Snow Day

So today was a snow day. Every radio station had their own forecast and predicted anywhere between 4 and 12 inches of snow. Naturally everyone in Boston freaked out and decided to stay home. Schools were cancelled everywhere. For me this is awesome. Not only I don't get a lot of passengers, but there's no traffic. Sure the roads were slippery, but that just adds to the fun! I also had to climb a few sidewalks because the snow that was around from previous storms was still piled up on street corners making it hard to take turns in some of the narrower streets. I think it's funny to see some people trying to leapfrog over the snow banks to cross the street before realizing that they won't be able to get to the sidewalk on the other side because it's also filled with snow. I swear some people jump in front of my bus on purpose to see if I'm going to stop or not. Look to the other side of the street before you cross people! I always look to see if I can make it across the intersection before I start moving on a green light.

PIXNIT

I found this about 2 years ago and a few months back I learned about PINXIT. A guerrilla urban artist that uses graffiti and stencils as art media to brighten up the city of Boston. After I read an article about her (?) on the Weekly Dig, I thought this might be her work.

Chained Bicycle

In the picture it's hard to tell, but this is an exercise bicycle the was "apparently" left on the street for someone to take. It got my attention because I'm looking for one. I use the word apparently in quotation because after a brief inspection I noticed there was a chain on it and it was locked around the metal pole! I can't think of a logical explanation for this... I wish I had a better picture but it was early and the Sun wasn't out yet.

Sullivan Square T Station

Is this painting of someone who got shot waiting for the bus? Why do the people sitting down look so Ok with this?!

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. day.

We had about a foot and a half of snow since yesterday and since my bus doesn't run today and it's warm enough outside, I took the kids out to play.

Hello World!

So after giving it some thought I decided to start a blog. I see a lot of interesting things in the streets of Boston, MA and go through a lot frustration dealing with the traffic that gets maddening at times, specialy when the Red Sox are in town. I figured it would be easier for me to deal with the city if I got to write about it along the way. Now I'm kind of looking forward to the rest of my 12 hour shift... I have my cameraphone ready for the next time I get flipped off for reasons other than my own.
